The New Zealand regions where the most sex toys were purchased in 2021 were Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington, while the smaller towns that saw the largest percentage increase in sex toy sales this year were Kaikohe in Northland, Lincoln in Canterbury, and Warkworth, Auckland.
Nicola Relph, Adulttoymegastore’s owner and operator, said: “It came as no surprise to us to see the Satisfyer Pro 2 take out the number one spot for the third year running—it has become an icon. But Kama by Share Satisfaction is hot on its heels in second place this year,” she explained.
“From the top 10 we can see that Kiwis have a couple of preferred brands, including Satisfyer from the United States, and homegrown brand Share Satisfaction. This is the first year we’ve had a full bondage restraint kit in the top 10, which tells us that more Kiwis are experimenting with bondage play, and it’s nice to see a beginner’s butt plug in sixth place, meaning more people are exploring this erogenous zone.
“Overall, the top 10 toys for 2021 includes a nice variety, and we commend New Zealanders for a big year of sexual experimentation and utilising the tools available to them to help take care of their sexual wellbeing, particularly while we were locked down in our bubbles.”
